Plastic has become ubiquitous in our lives, despite the controversy surrounding it. It’s hard to think of any area of our lives where plastic in some form or another is not used. Unlike earlier plastic manufacturing processes, advancements in technology have led to improved plastic manufacturing. Thanks to modern plastic molding technology, plastic can now be recycled, and eco-friendly plastics are being created. Over the years, the plastic molding equipment used to make plastic has also changed – and for the better! Instead of fresh plastic being used every time for a new product, recycled plastics are now regularly utilized.
Integrated computer technology has ensured that plastic factory equipment for molding has become much improved. Complicated sizes, shapes and designs can now be easily manufactured. Plastic molds have a large number of uses. A few of the most popular mold uses include those for jewelry, ice cube trays, chocolate, and the list goes on. There are molds for cooking and art accessories. From defense items and medical kits, to all kinds of household appliances and electronics, they all make extensive use of plastic molds.
Molding is the method by which a pliable material (plastic) is given shape with the help of a rigid model called a mold. Manufacturers who specialize in plastic molding equipment use a variety of molding machines.
With plastic molding equipment using the injection process, the applications are limitless. Simple carrying bags, bags for packaging, beverage bottles, accessories for the computer, automobile parts and toys can all be manufactured using advanced plastic molding technology. From the simplest of things to the most complicated life-saving devices, plastic injection molding technology is capable of manufacturing high-quality products.
With blow molding, hollow parts of plastic are formed. There are three types of blow molding machines – blow injection, stretch blow molding and extrusion blow molding equipment.
Stretch blow molding is preferred for molding bottles and is extensively used in the bottling processes of soft drinks, mineral water, farm chemicals, oil and edibles. Extrusion blow molding equipment is good for manufacturing container goods for PE, PP or PC, and uses both mechanical and pneumatic systems.
Plastic usage generates a lot of controversy, and is even banned in many countries. But the fact remains that plastic has permeated every aspect of our lives, and with constantly improving plastic molding equipment, it is possible to manufacture environmentally-friendly and reusable plastic products.
